Re: Phishing Scam (pronounced fishing)
Dear Valued Account Holder,
You may have heard of the phishing scams that are happening throughout the nation. This letter is to better equip you with how to handle a request that you may receive over the internet or via telephone.
- Douglas County Bank will never email or call you with a request for personal or account information.
- Do not respond to any request for personal or account information that you may receive by telephone or email.
- The ‘crooks’ have ways to make requests for information look or sound legitimate. They may even use a copy of our official logo on an email.
- If you receive a request for personal information please notify Douglas County Bank as soon as possible. Again, do not respond to any request.
- Never click on the link provided by an email that you believe is fraudulent.
- Do not be intimidated by a caller or email which threatens to terminate your service unless you confirm billing information. Again, contact the company cited in the email using a telephone number or web site address you know to be valid.
- Review credit card and bank account statements as soon as you receive them to determine whether there are any unauthorized charges. If your statement is late by more than a couple of days, call your credit card company or bank to confirm your billing address and account balances.
If you fall victim to an attack, act immediately and we will help protect your accounts.
If you have any questions about this letter or this scam please feel free to call or come by the Douglas County Bank branch that you normally conduct business.
Sincerely,
Billy Mayhew
President
